The Rotary Club of Manchester has joined with the Town of Manchester to develop a “Rotary Music Garden” as part of the overall redesign of Charter Oak Park.  The park has a planned re-opening during the summer of 2017 and site preparation is currently underway.  The Rotary Music Garden will feature 9, full size, all-weather, musical instruments produced by Freenotes Harmony Park out of Durango, Colorado. The garden is laid out in a park-like setting with walking paths, a central patio and benches.

Children, teens and their families will enjoy this area for individual and group expression and community programming. A video showing the design of the music garden and the placement of the instruments is available through the following link. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuLGghi9KKE].  The Rotary Club of Manchester is funding the Music Garden project through the sponsorship of individual instruments and benches, at a gala, fund raising event to be held at Cheney Hall on Saturday, May 6.

Engraved brick will surround the central patio area (the six ‘spokes’ radiating off the central patio area).  The bricks are a sandstone color, 8” square and can be engraved with up to 6 lines, 18 characters per line, and are guaranteed for life (see sample below). Interested sponsors and contributors are encouraged to contact the Rotary Club of Manchester – P.O. Box 1, Manchester, 06045 – or call the individuals listed below. Contributions to the Music Garden should be by check made out to the Manchester Rotary Club Foundation (“MRC Foundation”).  Contact: Bob at 860-559-7132 Ken at 508-245-0897  r.rodner@cox.net kegolden@gmail.com
