September Service Opportunity:

37th Annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger

September 13-19, 2020

Earlier this summer our club pledged to dedicate energy and resources toward offsetting food insecurity in our community--a situation which has worsened due to the ongoing pandemic.  The Service Committee is pleased to offer you, your family and friends an opportunity to unite in support of the The 37th Annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger.

The Walk Against Hunger is held annually to raise public awareness of and build resources for addressing food insecurity in Hartford and Tolland counties.  This year’s event will take place virtually, and Ritu Goel has graciously volunteered to lead our new club team, the Manchester Rotary Ramblers.

Please come and join in the fun!  Invite your family and friends!

This year’s event will be held September 13-19, 2020, and registration/fundraising is happening online NOW! You can choose when and where you'll walk within the event dates.

Here’s how to get in on the action:

1.  Join our club team!  Register HERE and type ‘Manchester Rotary’ in the SEARCH box.  You should then encounter a list of beneficiary organizations.  Manchester Rotary Ramblers will walk in support of Foodshare, so please make that selection and continue on with the registration process.

Note:  Team members may decide to meet up and walk together in a group—masked and/or socially distanced, of course.  Please let Ritu, Lucy or Cathy know if you’d like to be part of a group walk.  If group walking is not your thing these days, then simply join the team and walk a 1.5 mile course of your own choosing.

2.  Support our team with you donation HERE.  Then select ‘Donate to a Team’ and search for ‘Manchester Rotary’.

Our fundraising efforts will help Foodshare continue to provide relief for our neighbors struggling with hunger and will support long-term efforts to improve access to healthy food while addressing the underlying issues that contribute to hunger.

One last thing:  Please consider creating a video or photograph of your walk and forward them to Ritu HERE.  These will be uploaded to our Walk Against Hunger team page as well as our club web and social media pages.

Thank you in advance for supporting Foodshare!
