At this time of self-reflection, the Rotary Club of Manchester re-dedicates itself to the betterment of all members of our community. As an organization which lives by the creed “Is it the truth?, Is it fair to all concerned?, Will it build goodwill and better friendships?, Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”, we assume that racial justice, inclusivity and mutual respect comes as second nature in our bonds as Rotarians.
But isn’t that the issue? The implicit bias that people bring along in life often makes us blind to the very problems that continue to confront us all; complacency, lack of self-reflection and inertia. Despite our lofty ideals and goals, it is incumbent upon each of us, as individuals and as organizations, to constantly reflect on our ability to act justly, respectfully and honestly in word and deed to help bring about a “more perfect union;” one in which we help one another achieve the full potential of our shared humanity.
